Archery - Intermediate Guide

The higher your archery level, the more range your archers have. This allows your archers to get free attacks on your opponents. It's great when you can eliminate half of your enemies' forces before they even have a chance to attack.

Each level of Archery increases shooting range by 5%

Military Science - Intermediate Guide

With each Military Science upgrade, you enhance troop training speed by 10%. This is absolutely huge considering the possibilities. If two opponents were to start dead even, the person with the higher Military Science would win because he/she could rake out the troops more quickly than his/her enemy. Obviously, numbers would speak for themselves. It’s very useful not waiting 48 hours for a simple 1,000 swordsmen to complete. Upgrade your Military Science technology and you might not have to wait as long!

Each level of Military Science enhances training speed by 10%.

Level 14 and 16 Historic City Map - Advanced Guide

Capture Level 12 Historic City - Advanced Guide

These cities provide you with control over a small draft area, 18 x 18 square miles and allow you 4 drafts per day. They are good starting points from which to launch waves at the bigger Historic Cities.

They allow you to launch 125,000 waves (156,250 with war ensign).

Draft Range
19 x 19 Miles
9 miles in any direction
12.7 miles at the furthest point

Defences
Troops
The easiest combination is Warrior / Pikemen / Archer / Cavalry / Rams.

But you can also attack the
Warrior / Swordsmen / Archer / Cavalry / Rams Configuration

Every day there is a random troop combination in the Historic City. The warriors and archers will always be in there. But pikemen and swordsmen alternate. But it can be done fairly easily with swordsmen in it. Because you go for the battering ram combination there will only be the archers as a range unit firing on you. Stay away from trying to take it with any other combo, the losses will be very high.

Warrior 1,120,000
Pikemen / Swordsman 162,666
Archer 42,807
Cavalry / Cataphracts 108,444
Rams / Ballista / Catapult 14,640

Walls
Its best to try to spam out as much walls as possible
Traps 22,000
Abatis 11,000
Archer Towers 6,666
Rolling Logs 6,000
Defensive Trebuchet 5,000

If you camp all your loyalty waves, make sure to send at least 40, or more if you can. After the city is broken and its troops wiped out it varies how many loyalty waves it takes to capture it. Sometimes only 30, but some times over 40. Also make sure you have a city ready to teleport to the historic city if you need extra loyalty waves.

Method 1
Warrior / Pikemen / Archer / Cavalry / Rams Configuration

The easiest method I have come across to take a LV 12 doesn't require high hero attack but only a good number of ballista. You will only lose about 4,000 ballista on the breaker. The Span waves before will eliminate the traps causing them to miss your important troops.

Hero level and attack does not matter for loyalty and spam waves.

Wave 1 to 30 - 2,000 warriors / 2,000 scouts (spam waves)

Wave 31 - 2,000 workers / 3,000 warriors / 120,000 ballista and hero attack of 285 (breaker wave)

Waves 32 and on - 10,000 archers / 20,000 warriors (loyalty waves)

Method 2
Warrior / Pikemen or Swordsmen / Archer / Cavalry / Rams Configuration

If you don't have the ballista and need to use other troops, your losses will depend on your hero attack. Your going to use a mix of archer rainbows and pikemen.

With Hero Attack 200
Launching from a Lv10 city without war ensign

Wave 1 to 30 - 2,000 warriors / 2,000 scouts

Wave 31 - 33 - 100,000 pikemen

Waves 34 - 35 - 100,000 archers

Wave 36 - 42 (7 waves) - 1,000 workers / 1,000 warriors / 1,000 scouts / 1,000 swordsmen / 95,000 archers / 500 cataphracts / 500 cavalry

Waves 43 and on (loyalty waves) - 10,000 archers / 20,000 warriors

With Hero Attack 400
Launching from a Lv12 Historic city without war ensign.

Wave 1 to 30 - 2,000 warriors / 2,000 scouts

Wave 31 - 125,000 pikemen

Waves 32 - 125,000 archers

Wave 33 - 36 (4 waves) - 1,000 workers / 1,000 warriors / 1,000 scouts / 1,000 swordsmen / 95,000 archers / 500 cataphracts / 500 cavalry

Waves 37 and on (loyalty waves) - 10,000 archers / 20,000 warriors

From 400 attack and up, you can decrease you losses by sending 156,000 waves from a Lv 12 if you have war ensign. Also you can send 150k waves from a lv14 historic city or 187,500 with war ensign. The bigger the first pike and archer waves are the less archer rainbows after it will take to finish off the city.

With Hero Attack 800+
Launching from a Lv14 Historic city with war ensign.

This is a two hit break using only archers and pikemen. The waves are sent from a Lv 14 Historic city with war ensign. You will wipe most of the troops in the city with the first two waves leaving only a tiny amount for the 3rd wave to clean up.

You need two historic heroes, around 500 attack + Excalibur 125 + Uprise 207.

You have the option to send the 30 spam waves if you want, but if you need to capture a few different level 12s quickly, this is the quickest method.

You can actually Capture a few in a day.

Wave 1 - 187,500 Pikemen

Wave 2 - 187,500 archers

Wave 3 - 1,000 workers / 1,000 warriors / 1,000 scouts / 1,000 swordsmen / 95,000 archers / 500 cataphracts / 500 cavalry

Waves 4 and on (loyalty waves) - 10,000 archers / 20,000 warriors

With Hero Attack 800+
Launching from a Lv16 Historic city with war ensign.

Wave 1 - 250,000 Pikemen

Wave 2 - 250,000 Archers

Waves 3 and on (loyalty waves) - 10,000 archers / 20,000 warriors

If you launch from a level 16 city you can pretty much break the city losing only the pikemen. You will lose about 7,000 archers in the second wave. This is with level 9 stars minimum.

Heroes - 10 Rules

1. Do not forget about your heroes!

2. Do not use medals to reward your hero. You will need these later. Use gold, and keep them at 100%loyalty.

3. Reward them BEFORE you upgrade, as each upgrade costs you more in salary and rewards.

4. Make sure you select them wisely when recruiting. Each hero should be good at ONE thing only.

5. You should have 1 good politic and 1 good intel hero per city, and the rest should be high on attackpoints.

6. Your Mayor can (and should) be changed around depending on what you are doing. Their attributes affect the time it takes to do certain things around your town. Your mayor will gain xp just by being mayor (although it is slow) so send your mayor on easy attacks to speed up xp growth from time totime.

7. Politic heroes make the best mayors. High politic scores will speed up the production of resources.

8. Intel heroes can be sent with scouts to increase the amount of info you get back. BE CAREFUL though as if your scout/s die, your hero will be lost. Intel heroes shorten the amount of time research will take, so switch your mayor to your intel hero before starting any research, then back to your politic hero once its started.

9. Attack heroes are obviously the most important. You will want their leadership points to eventually be above 85, as this significantly reduces troop losses on attacks. Get as many heroes as soon as you can, and send them on regular attacks to increase xp. You will need multiple heroes in order to send“waves” of attacks (see strategies further down)

10. Your Workshop building allows you to make “gear” for your heroes and further increase their strength, speed and ability. Every 10 levels, your hero can use a new gear level, and increase their power. Research “Charm” and “ring” first, as these are counted twice for some reason (see the gear list to the right in your hero screen). Do not increase star levels until your gear has reached its max level, as each gear upgrade reduces the star level.

Farming Medals/Gems

Gems: The cheapest and easiest way is to farm level 5 NPC with your ballista waves. If you don't care about the resources and just care about gems, you can send the ballista waves at NPCs every 15 minutes and still get gems from them sometimes.

Medals are a little different:

Cross/Rose/Lion: Farm these in level 1-3 Valleys.

To farm a valley, send attacks to land every 10 seconds or so. Once it hits (and captures) the valley, quickly abandon it before the next attack hits so that it re-spawns. Do this until you are bored or until you have the desired amount of medals.

Honor: Farm these in level 4 NPCs mostly with my ballista waves.

Courage/Wisdom/Freedom: Farm these in level 5 NPCs with ballista waves

Justice/Nation: These are the hardest and most expensive to get. The easiest way I found was to attack a level 10 NPC with a normal Hero Leveling wave, and then follow that 100k warriors that will and every 4 minutes afterwards. Any less than 4 minutes and you lower the drop rate, and more than 4 minutes and you increase losses that you will suffer.

Upgrading Title and Rank - Beginners Guide

After you get your first city running, it is time to start your second one.

With the items you get while running through the initial quests, you should receive enough medals to make your first Rank/Title upgrade.

Doing this allows you to own 1 more city. Every time you upgrade your TITLE, you are able to obtain another city, all the way until you are a prinzessin and can hold 10 cities at a time.

Now, your first city is an all-purpose city, but none of your future ones should be. You should, at this point, determine what style of player you will be.

Will you be a player that always sits at 0 food with monster armies or do you want to keep your food levels above 0 for all towns at all times.

Deciding this question will determine if you want to have any Farm towns or now.

A farm town will consist of 40 farms with a level 10 Town Hall, and all 10 of your valleys will be level 9 or 10 lakes. This makes your food production the highest possible, but again, if you don't mind sitting at 0 food, you will be more resourceful and have larger supplies of Iron/Lumber for your troops.

Let's assume you don't want to sit at 0 food all the time. This means I would make the next city a Lumber town. In a lumber town, I make 40 Mills (level 9) with a level 10 Town Hall (TH) and have 10 level 9 or 10 forests as my valleys. In the town portion of this city, you want to get a barracks to level 9 fast, and have the technologies required for making Ballistas and Transports complete so you can build your NPC farming army.

You will start with farming level 1 NPCs, but your goal is to farm level 5 NPCs. Before your techs are leveled up completely, plan on having 600 Ballistas and Transports to farm them.

As your archery and Military Tradition levels go up, your Ballista requirement will go down, and as your logistics tech goes up, your transports requirement will go down. By the time you have farmed enough medals to make your next rank, you will hopefully also be strong enough to capture a level 8 NPC (make sure you have the "Queen" or "King" quest to conquer a level 8 city before doing this.)

To get a level 8 NPC close to you, conquer a level 8 flat adjacent to one of your towns, build a city on it, and abandon it. The space where the city you built was, should now be a level 8 NPC city. To conquer a level 8 NPC, put all of your heroes in Wiseman's gear. Your first attack should be 90k or 100k warriors (depending on your rally spot level).

This should be followed by 8 other waves of 20k warriors each in 20-30 second intervals. You keep sending 20k warriors over and over again until the loyalty reaches 0 (can be seen in battle reports) and the city is yours.

This will be your first farm city but don't build it up much because you will replace it with the level 10 NPC you will conquer next. The easiest way to do this to conquer a level 10 flat adjacent to one of your cities, build a new city on it, and abandon it.

Doing so will leave a level 10 NPC right next to you (which will disappear at server maintenance overnight). This means that you should not abandon the city, until the day you are ready to conquer the level 10.

To conquer the level 10 city, you should have Combat Technologies to level 10 (with the exception of compass still being at 9.)

Once you have your heroes above 250 Attack, then you can research compass to level 10.

First wave against the level 10 NPC city should be 2k Warriors and Workers, 4k scouts, and 92k archers. Following this wave, you should have 8 other waves ready to go in 20-30 second intervals of 10k warriors and archers.

Completing this quest will give you your Queen or King as a reward.

Avoid Drafting with Troop Exchange - Advanced Guide

Many players have the problem of being drafted from high level HC's (level 14, level 16 or the Atlantis). To avoid getting drafted follow this simple trick

1) find a player of your alliance who has a city nearby.
2)send your troops to his city and also tell him to reinforce your city(optional).

Reinforced troops can not be drafted both your troops and your friends troops will be safe from drafting. Also if you keep the troops reinforced into nearby city, you can recall them quickly when you want to attack anyone.

* Move all of your troops and food into the city that is 1-2 miles from the level 10 NPC. You will have the food there to ensure that your troops are supported.

Step 2:

Warehouse - Intermediate Guide

You have most likely heard from everyone that you don’t need any ware houses and while that may be true for more advanced players it’s not for you intermediate level players.

You don't need to have five plus ware houses, but only one. This is mainly because if your alliance went to war with other stronger players you might get attacked. They would also take all your food enabling you to comfort your city. So you need to preserve your food with warehouses. And sometimes the fact of the mater is that it can be simply to late for your alliance to help you in some situations. So that’s where the warehouse comes in, but for it to work properly make sure 100% of the storage is food.

Tax Rate - Beginners Guide

When you are online and playing keep your tax rate above 50 and compensate loyalty with comforting.  Ideally set it to 90% and comfort every 15 minutes.

You can earn great amount of gold by keeping your tax rate above or equal to 50%. Keeping tax rates high will decrease the loyalty (100-tax rate=loyalty), so increase loyalty regularly by applying "disaster relief"  or "praying" comforting.

Every time you do disaster relief it will consume some food based on your current population and boost the loyalty by 5.

Remember to change the tax rate back to 20% when you are going to be offline.
